For What It’s Worth
I admit that I am filled with impractical ideas. This is not to say they are all wrong, just that they are often times hazy. Sometimes they have kernels of, dare I say, greatness contained within them. I follow through on them when someone tells me, or I agnonizingly figure out myself, that they need to be reshaped and a different approach applied to them.
I am not alone in having impractical ideas. It makes me wonder who will be the next group of women & men to step up and follow through on an idea which currently might be viewed as impractical? Lots of topics close to home conceivably could be candidates. For instance, what’s not to like about how the RHS 2022 Legacy Photo which brought together legacy students with relatives who are alumni for a group shot on the front lawn of RHS? Photographer Patty Connelly and publicist Rena Axiotakis Christie worked hand in glove to produce photos alumni will appreciate for a life time. Better than selfies!

How Many Licks
This photo has many stories to it...but the one u should understand most is the one that asks the question who is the crazy one...the old lady throwing bird seed talking about the time she got a curtain call for her role as Ado Annie in the 1976 revival of Oklahoma or the guy walking home now with bird seed in his hair who once has a paragraph written about his interpretation of jud fry in the Bergan County Record in 1982...anyway...I got the shot which was not at all what I was thinking -
Shot on Broadway at 50th street looking south into the sun.
Time 445pm.

Future GWMS Vice Principal & Mom
Happy Flag Day and Happy Birthday Mom aka Betsy. Funny story: My Mom flew down to University of South Carolina with me for my freshman orientation this week in 1997. I was so overloaded with new people, places, and planning my college schedule. When my Mom asked me that morning, "Timothy, do you know what today is?" my response was, "Yes Mom, I know, I have to be on my best behavior because today is my first day of college. Don't worry, I'll be good and won't get in any trouble." To which she replied, in no uncertain terms, "No, its my birthday [you asshole!]" I like to think that I made it up to her by placing out of three years of Spanish that day, taking her out to a fancy dinner at California Dreaming that night, and five years later by getting my BA and MA from South Carolina.
Mom, not a day goes by that I don't miss you and more so, not a day goes by that I don't try to make you proud. You spent your life not only raising your six children, but also by giving back to the world with your life's work in healthcare and community medicine. When I go to work each day to teach my classes, I try to find at least one way to follow in your footsteps if only for a brief moment. Thank you so much for being my mother, for raising me to be who I am, for always supporting me, for fighting like hell to be able to dance with me on my wedding day, and for a lifetime's worth of happy memories.
Although you never got to meet your grandson Brian on this earth, he knows you very well, to the point where he can impersonate many of the little idiosyncrasies that made you who you are. (For example, Coca Cola Classic, a love of the beach, Sunday afternoon naps, train rides to the city, mac-n-cheese casserole, and much, much more.) You made me chicken parm every single time I came home from college, and when I lost you I vowed I would never eat my favorite food again. I love you, I miss you, and I am thinking of you today on your birthday. (I remembered....)
