Ridgewood Village Council Election
Once the dust has settled on the upcoming voting for Village Council, there are three issues the Village Council will need to focus upon:
The Town Garage. The Department of Environment Protection (DEP) declared it a remediation site 10 years ago. Nothing has been done. Despite there being an underground water stream running through the property, and that there are hydraulic and diesel fuel tanks still buried there. The owners of the now defunct garage are hoping to unload this health hazard on an unsuspecting village. It is prime real estate and the contamination of ground water is scary, but at what cost?
The Shedler Property. The 7-acre site in the Salem Ridge section east of Route 17 was bought by the village in 2009 for $2.7 million, offset by a $1.57 million open space grant, which required that the property be used for active recreation. Elected officials and neighbors have been debating its fate ever since. The property is registered with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), which means that the state has to approve and supervise any work being done in order to preserve the historical significance of the site.
Central Business District: (1)What to do about Outdoor Dining? Allow it, strictly regulate it, or deny it completely? (2)Can the bus route through Ridgewood be re-routed permanently so diners on Ridgewood Avenue do not have to inhale fumes while eating outside? This re-routing already occurs during events like the Car Show held annually in Ridgewood.
I would dare to add a fourth issue: Transparency in Government. The Village needs a website which tracks the progress on these issues. Simple timelines would do for a start. Though as we have seen with the derelict RHS Alumni Association web site, which only gets updated when there is a new picture of a Board of Trustee, regularly updating a web site is the key to its success.
FYI, I have been asking the RHSAA to correct their shameful rendition of the Ridgewood High School Athletic Hall Of Fame page for over two years. The webmaster has never responded nor has the Do-Nothing Board Of Trustees. Time to enact term limits for trustees and clean house.

The Man With Two Brains
I was only trying to buy a cheap pair of shoes at DSW when i crossed 14th street and saw this in the reflection on the mural painted on 14th - by the way...there are no cheap shoes - just ask the man with two brains
Shot with no filter looking a wet painted mural with a bike on the right, flag and zeckendorf towers in the distance.

Pictures
One of the most visited pages on Maroons Online is the one dedicated to remembering our classmates. The addition of pictures gives it a more expressive look. Hope you agree.

Rock Hound
Cruise ship Viking Ocantis downbound, passing under the International Bridge, and preparing to enter the Poe Lock in Sault Ste Marie. The Poe Lock was built for 1000 foot freighters, and the VO is only 675 feet long. But she's also got a beam of 79 feet, which makes her too wide for any lock but the Poe. This is her first year cruising the Great Lakes.

You’re Saying It Wrong
adverse / averse
“Cat Has an Averse Reaction to Liquid in Commercial Food”
HEADLINE, WASHINGTON POST
And we’re having an adverse reaction to that WaPo headline—which is missing a crucial d. There’s no such thing as an averse reaction…or, for that matter, averse weather, averse effects, or averse events, all of which we’ve recently spotted in print.
So what’s the big diff between them? Usually, a person is averse about something (we’re averse to giving advice), whereas a thing is adverse.
