Macky’s World Photo Essay: Old And The New - A View Of Union Square North
Maya Angelou’s book, “Letter To My Daughter,” poignantly suggests,
“I am convinced that most people do not grow up. We find parking spaces and honor our credit cards. We marry and dare to have children and call that growing up. I think what we do is mostly grow old. We carry the accumulation of years in our bodies and on our faces, but generally our real selves, the children inside, are still innocent and shy as magnolias.”
Having the 2021 RHS Jamboree was a brilliant idea. Not to be deterred by the pandemic the grown ups running the RHS Jamboree decided the show must go on! They did not give up but showed they are grown ups in the best sense of the word.
An AMAZING $202,021 was raised for Jamboree 2021! Incredible in any climate, let alone in the middle of a pandemic! Hats off to this wonderful Cast and Crew! Bravo!! Mission ACCOMPLISHED!!
A tradition for 75 years, this is the FIRST online show. Ever! Mission imPossible was made possible by over 165 cast members and creative team.
You can still watch the show through the month of February. It's funny and sweet and touching and entertaining.... Don't miss out!

For those of you like me who enjoyed the presentations of Tic Toc but never knew that the words stood for something, here’s your answer: To Introduce Culture To Our Children. The Ridgewood Arts Foundation honored them in 2018 at their annual awards ceremony. We’ve given them their own page on Maroons Online

The Ridgewood Arts Foundation was founded by residents of the Village of Ridgewood, New Jersey, who saw the need for a foundation to provide funding for the many worthy artistic endeavors within and near the Village of Ridgewood and to encourage the further development of the arts within the community. We are a New Jersey non-profit corporation with 501(c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service. As such RAF is a public charitable foundation.
We invite you to join us in this effort and to have fun while doing so, recognizing that art so enhances the quality of life and brings such pleasure to participants and spectators alike.
The Foundation makes modest gifts to worthy applicants. As we grow, our hope is that funding will advance to the point where gifts become more substantial, even to the point of assisting in the development of a facility in Ridgewood dedicated to artistic displays and performances.Funding is provided through donations from individuals, grants from corporations and foundations, our membership program, and our fundraising activities, which are designed to promote the arts while encouraging donations to enable the Foundation to advance its work.
This is too cool for words and something I would have been into in a second if we had these resources in my day. We’re looking for great things from this group and have given them a page on Maroons Onine
Macky’s New York
Today’s Macky:
February 8, 2021 - Union Square north
Old and the new - a view of Union Square north
It's rumored that Tom Brady lives in the glass building in the middle - that's 1 Madison Avenue - the building on the right might be my favorite...its 874 Broadway and the gold top one is the Metropolitan Life insurance building.
An unusual interpretation for me but I liked the visual and felt it was worth sharing.
Shot in the snow melt on Union Square west with tiles and ice.
Time 145pm.
