Scholar Athlete Joe Grasso, RHS 2022
Joe credited his dad, the late Jimmy Grasso, for giving him the right perspective.
“Always do the right thing,” Joe said.
Joe Grasso, RHS 2022, received the 2022 Steve DiGregio Young Man Of The Year Award. He was chosen from a field of applicants who have made an impact in their school community and surrounding area. Joe is active in his church, coaches youth sports, led a coat drive and works at Camp Sunshine for special needs kids in Ridgewood.
Joe detailed what he’s gotten out of working at Camp Sunshine, learning how lucky he is to be able to play sports without any physical disabilities and to have so many loving friends and coaches.
We often honor athletes and alumni for their accomplishments long after they have left Ridgewood schools behind. The award being given to Joe Grasso is for current efforts. While he is a very good athlete, and will follow in his Dad’s footsteps by playing football at Franklin & Marshall next year, it was the powerful influence he exerted in his community which set him apart and for which he is being honored with two tickets to the upcoming Superbowl in California next month.

The Yellow Line
The subway lines are known by all sorts of names - The IRT...the BMT...some call em by numbers or letters...I usually call em by colors - this is on the "yellow train" to me...aka the N train aka the BMT line.
Shot in the first car looking towards the front while holding my camera against the ceiling as we pull into 42nd street.

Honeycomb Hand Towel
Inspired by art, designed in New York, and made by hand with love by artisans all over the world. Shop home décor and wearable accessories at www.mplusanyc.com
We added this Honeycomb Hand Towel to our M+A NYC mix due to the popularity of our Honeycomb Bath Sheet. Equally useful in the bath as in the kitchen. The intricate honeycomb weave creates a wicking effect while making the twisted cotton as absorbent as possible. Being lightweight and quick drying, these towels save on water, detergent and ultimately electricity. The environment wins and so do the women who weave these pieces since they work in a collective that is Fair Trade Certified.
Details:
100% Cotton
Handloomed
White/Black
21” x 37" including tassels (size may vary slightly due to the nature of hand weaving)
Has a cotton twill loop at the center of towel for hanging on a hook
Prewashed to bring out the beautiful texture of the weave
Designed in New York by M+A NYC
Made in India in a Fair Trade Certified environment
Care:
Machine wash warm, gentle cycle. Only non-chlorine bleach when needed. Tumble dry low. Warm iron as needed. Mild shrinkage after wash.

Right after we were married in August of 1981, Jenni and I moved to Minnesota and rented an old farmhouse on Lake Martha in Rockford, about 30 miles west of the Twin Cities. There was a family of feral cats living in the barn. It was just the momma and her kittens, and except when they were behind the barn door, they never allowed us to get near them. I took this photo of the momma using my Olympus OM-1 SLR, shooting Kodachrome 25 ISO 35mm slide film. This was the closest she ever let me get to her. The original slide has since been scanned to digital and it looks like I may have added a dry brush digital effect to the image. Wish I wouldn’t have done that. But this enhanced digital image still captures her wariness, and the sense of danger, although I’m not sure who was in danger of being harmed, the cat, or the human?
Over the course of the season, all of the kittens died of distemper, and we found momma ‘s lifeless body shortly thereafter. Feral cats have a tough life.
