Seeking Purpose, Not the Pasture
We don’t live alone on this earth. We are responsible for each other.
I mention this as our nation goes back to offices and contemplates sending children back to school buildings. It would seem we could all make these decisions for ourselves, as we have done since the last pandemic in 1918. Though that would have us ignore the evidence of lost lives from our current pandemic. No, we are going to have to figure this one out together.
Fortunately, we are well on are way to some workable solutions which will likely become permanent, like Tele-Medicine, Online Schooling, and Home Delivery. Nothing perfect is suggested by these trends and the loss of human contact is leading to a spike in mental health related concerns.
The best course of action I could suggest would be to ask a seasoned person in your community what they think we ought to do. The term “senior” is too severe for my liking. Ask them how their experience might shed some light on the questions we are all asking ourselves.
I say to do this because we happily possess a surplus of people looking for a purpose in life which goes beyond volunteering at a non-profit or baby sitting grandchildren. These are note worthy activities but fail to utilize in many cases the experience, wisdom, and decision-making capabilities only afforded to people who have had to make decisions, speak wisely, and demonstrate a familarity with what commonly passes for civil discourse. Yes, the very same people who have been pushed aside by our Ageist sympathies are the very people best to be asking, “Where do we go from here?”

A Rainy Day On 34th Street
This really was just an outtake as I was wondering which knock off cologne to buy outside of Macy's - I went with eau de roasted cashews.
Shot on the south side of 34th street just west of 6th Avenue on the glass above the subway entrance looking west with umbrellas which I used to block all the cars which I hate and makes the shot.

Data Security and Privacy
While this is not strictly an alumni or Ridgewood related story, the need for better data security and privacy is something we all have heard about. We have also all been informed by corporations large and small about cybersecurity breaches of their databases which included our personal information. The same stories have come from governments, hospitals, non-profits, and small businesses.
