Talent Shortage
Does this sound familiar?
He or she may be on leave from work but their still juggling all of their responsibilities like the heroic workaholics they are.
The shift of many jobs to home offices due to the pandemic has swiftly revealed that our desire to be constantly available via phone, text, and video is unsustainable, unhealthy and ultimately unrewarding.
As reported in The Guardian:
Nearly every industry is experiencing a talent shortage as people resist returning to the grind for as long as they can afford to do so. The US government puts the global shortfall at 40 million skilled workers, with forecast losses of trillions if the trend continues. Hiring managers, meanwhile, are complaining of people not showing up to scheduled interviews or even their first day on the job. As the Ask a Manager columnist Alison Green commented, the many people who have been ghosted after an interview might be permitted some schadenfreude.
Hiring managers have been systematically ignoring the talents of people, men & women, over the age of 40 for over a generation, and now face a dire shortage of skilled and unskilled employees. By concentrating their hiring on younger applicants, who they believe to be cheap, fast, and desperate, they’ve created their own worst nightmare. Sadly, a little more flexibility in their own hiring practices and nonobservance of the current corporate dogma that older workers are technically incompetent & more expensive, might help them find the exact people they are clamoring to hire. They would be better off reading Peter Drucker,
If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur.
I’m not sure what the treatment is for this self-inflicted wound, but I’ll guess that hiring managers themselves will be the next group to leave their corporate masters, and the spreadsheets which dominate all decisions.
Yes, the tide has gone out and we are finding out who is skinny dipping.

I felt I was inside a bubble when I took this and shortly there after the bubble burst and I was soaking wet but just for one moment...I was living in between.

One of my favorite places to visit when we visit Huntsville, AL, is this little tupelo swamp. It's a small part of the much larger Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge. It's especially nice after a heavy rain, as happened this morning. I got there right after the rain stopped and the sun started to shine. Never been here in the fall. The rain made a lot of the tupelo leaves fall into the water.
