Macky’s New York Photo Essay: Late For The Show
Inspiration is the basis of great art. Period. Without it you have something inert that does not affect people. Inspiration usually happens in a flash. The key is to act on it immediately, and don't let in your naysayer voice or outsider criticism. When you're inspired, you capture the zeitgeist. It's all about catching lightning in a bottle. You know it when you do it, but it happens very infrequently, usually when you're not even working. Bob Lefsetz
Tic Toc
If you attended Ridgewood Public Schools anytime in the last 60 years you might just recall attending a performance sponsored by Tic Toc. With the pandemic they pivoted quickly last spring to create and offer an online Art at Home video series, in which each video focuses on an artist or artistic movement and includes an art project in that style for students to work on at home. This year they are continuing that series and have added a second video series for middle and high schoolers which they are calling TIC TOC Talks. These are five minute video interviews with people in arts related fields and are intended to offer students with artistic interests a quick look at a range of careers that they may not have considered and to help them think beyond the starving artist stereotype. You can also check them out at Maroons Online or at
