Retired Maroons
Yes, more and more Maroons these days are opting to retire. Some pursue a next act in their lives. Others begin with endless rounds of golf and then move on. The best suggestion I have heard is to retire to something, not from something. A little self-reckoning as to what you believe has some greater purpose and makes a fine legacy is the way to start.
It may seem a long way off to current students and younger alumni, but lessons can be learned early in life about how to live later in life. Not everything has to be about that first job & first mortgage. It might do more good to hold discussions on how to value the huge amounts of money being transferred intergenerationally via inheritance. Our retired Maroons will all have a story, either from first-hand experience, or from watching their classmates. You probably can imagine or know of an alum who really wanted to be an artist or own a woodworking company, but choose the more “practical” career route. Our retired Maroons have plenty of stories like these which ought be retold. Who wants to hear only about successes? How about the biggest follies or undertakings which had absurd outcomes?
My hunch is that our retired Maroons have the self-confidence to tell their own life stories, worts and all. What’s more, we all need a good laugh from time to time.

The Empire Strikes Wet
I pretty much gave up on taking night photos with a digital camera but as I walked to my dinner date from the R train...I took this as I waiting for the crosstown bus.- FYI...my dinner date is a cheeseburger with curry fries at @mollysshebeennyc - not curly...curry - I believe the Empire struck back over that very mistake.

Rock Hound
It's starting to look like Christmas. I scared a duck walking down to the dock and he took off. That's what made those ripples in the water.

Whether he did or he didn’t, what we do know is that economic refers to the economy in general, whereas economical refers to people being thrifty or avoiding waste.
