Innocent Sleep
More and more athletes, students, and working professionals are testifying to the benefits of sleep. Amen.
The Ridgewood Board of Education has been studying this issue for over 10 years and will be receiving another presentation this coming Monday on the subject as it pertains to the school opening time at RHS. (See Below).
Sleep is the new differentiator for people. The bragging of the tech titans about how little sleep they needed has led to a loss of innovative efforts. They are reluctantly realizing the technology, or better yet the Microchip revolution, is now a mature industry. No matter how many all-nighters and hack-a-thons they pull, they aren’t going to move the needle on innovation without sleeping on the idea first.

The Upright Shadow Brigade
After a breakfast in Chinatown with my friend Paul which included everything from the nose to the tail...we decided to walk it off and found ourselves on Broadway and Fulton street and as we crossed I saw this puddle to my left...most likely a result of me bending over in the gutter after the pig stomach soup we had earlier came back up to revisit me and as the sweet dripped off my forehead...i turned to the right and shot this - oh by the way...turns out it was the stewed heart and niblets that was upsetting my stomach and not the bowl of intestine my friend originally suggested.
This is a pure reflection shot on Fulton street just east of Broadway looking west with Freedom Tower and Saint Paul's Chappell tower on left.
Time 11am.

Ridgewood Public Library
Celebrates 100 Years
Ridgewood’s library began as a grassroots initiative, centered on volunteer leaders to curate the collection. In 1897, a group of philanthropic women organized a lending library, which is now the Moore Building. By 1917, the community outgrew this well-used library. With the help of Gertude Pease Anderson, George L. Pease Memorial Library was built and opened to the public on December 28, 1923.
“The Ridgewood Herald on January 3, 1924 lauded the ‘little band of heroic public-spirited women…who kindled and kept alive the library flame,’” explained Director Lorri Steinbacher. “This library flame, ignited by Gertrude Pease Anderson, still burns bright 100 years later, a testament to the power of what community, volunteer-spirit, and civic pride can accomplish.”
By the 1960s, the village outgrew the library again. To meet the needs of a spike in population related to the post-war Baby Boom, the Ridgewood Public Library was completed in 1962. For many years, both libraries served the Ridgewood community but use of Pease Library gradually declined.
In 1998, the Ridgewood Public Library was renovated to its current status with vast spaces to gather and share knowledge. In 2008, renovations at Pease Library were completed and it was decided that the building would be used for office rental space that serves as a revenue stream for library programming and services.

“Last week, Councilmember Siobhan Winograd and I met with the DEP, Board of Ed. representatives and Village staff to work on solutions to the flooding at the stadium field at the high school and Stevens Field. These fields have been flooded five times in the past two years, causing significant damage and expense to repair. Many thanks to former mayor and County Commissioner Ramon Hache for organizing this effort and to NJ Assemblyman Chris DePhillips for lending his support.” —Paul Vagianos
