ChatGPT & Local Governance
Mayor Paul Vagianos just announced a new avenue for local residents to participate in the machinations of government. No, he hasn’t added ChatGPT to the Village website. It’s a fine tool as I am discovering but more on that for another day. I do anticipate ChatGPT becoming a standard feature on the websites of the Village & the Board of Education (BOE) in the next year or two. If you look at the websites of the Vilaage and the BOE, they share a common problem: too much information. I do not fault either organization because we live in an age of too much information. I do suggest they look at ways to better organize their websites and an implementation of ChatGPT would top my list. It allows constituents to use voice commands, as well as written, to ask questions or find out where information is located. If you provide a tool which simplifies the end user experience you will endear yourself to everyone who visits your website. I suggest a pilot program using WordPress as the platform and give this fast growing application a worthy test.
The Council Chats will begin on Saturday, March 4th 2023. You can make an appointment or simply drop in for a chat. There will be two council members in attendance and it’s an opportunity to speech your mind. No software, however clever, beats face-to-face meetups. Glad to see the Village Council taking this sage advice to heart.

Butterflied Soho
As I walked west on Broome street I noticed a window treatment with butterflies in it and as I passed by I could see the building behind me in the reflection and I thought...I wish I lived in a building covered in butterflies and so I took the photo so I can remember this look in case I ever own a building and if i ever did I'd cover it just like this - the only question is...would anyone else wanna move into my butterfly covered loft.
Shot on Wooster street just north of Broome looking west with sun shining in over my shoulder with easterly reflection.

Mighty Are We As One
M + A is a destination devoted to art, artists, artisans and design. We are inspired by art as it relates to design: the soul, the spark that ignites beautiful ideas. We are equally as motivated by craft traditions passed down from generations.

Rock Hound
Went for a dive at the Milwaukee Public Museum and saw some friendly cephalopods. The water's warm, and only 20 feet deep, so no scuba tanks are required. Unfortunately the museum building is falling apart and needs to be torn down and replaced. The new museum will be ready in 2026. Hopefully the cephalopods will survive the move.
PS - Didn't really go for a dive. This is just a really cool diorama.
Siobhan Crann Winograd
Village Councilwoman
Please note that Schedler Park will be back on the Village Council agenda February 22nd for Workshop Discussion (no vote). In an effort to add information to the community conversation, I did want to add these bulleted facts:
*The Ad Hoc 2017 proposal was never submitted to the State. After the presentation, it was shelved and two other different plans were submitted to the State without public/neighbor input.
*The prior council altered the Ad Hoc park entrance from Terhune to the South, moved the playground to the North, added bathrooms/shelter and increased the Ad Hoc parking recommendations again without any public/neighbor input.
*The 2017 plan included Turf as the material for the field. The field was also always multi-purpose never one sport specific. Three sports affected are lax, football and soccer.
*In 2019 the Village nominated the whole 7.11 acres to be historic. This nomination now adds a layer of approval by SHPO in Trenton.
*Upon being elected and discovering the changes to the original plan, we felt a public discussion needed occur within the community prior to any other SHPO submission which is what you are seeing now. While we may not all agree with elements of the discussion I am hopeful we all agree a public discussion is the best path forward.
Hope this helps and please let me know if you have any questions. swinograd@ridgewoodnj.net
