Ridgewood BOE Approves LSST!
The Ridgewood Board of Education (BOE) on Monday voted to allow Ridgewood High School to open its doors each day at 8:30am. Our hats are off to the BOE for recognizing the science of sleep and teenagers. The BOE did their due diligence and now future generations of RHS students have the opportunity to catch a few more ZZZs in the morning. The end result we all expect will be a happier, healthier, and better educated cohort of RHS graduates. Later School Start Times is the new normal in Ridgewood.

Mighty Are We As One
Anyone in need of a touch of green right about now? In NY February can be a bit brutal and I start to crave pretty much anything that is green and growing. Our Cylindrical Alabaster Planters work great for bulbs and can help you fill the gap from winter to spring. I recycle plastic pots from the plant shops that I buy from and pop them inside the stone planters to enable me to easily switch up the end use. If they are a little taller than the height of the stone I just take a pair of scissors and cut down the top edge so that it sits below the alabaster rim. To grow the Paper White bulbs like the ones that I have here, just put them in well draining soil, water them every few days, and place them in a sunny window. (Note: There is a hole in the bottom of the alabaster planters to help facilitate drainage and improve aeration). When the bulbs are finished just pull out the liners and switch them out for glass votives. They make beautiful lanterns too.

Digitizing Arrow Yearbooks
2023 Update
The Ridgewood Public Library has Arrow Yearbooks (1950-2020) which have digitized and are in PDF format. They now need a annual budget to put them online.

Council Chats
According to Ridgewood Mayor Paul Vagianos,
In our continuing attempts to reach out to all of our residents in as many ways as possible, this past weekend we began a new program called Council Chats. On the first Saturday of each month, from 9am to 11am, two council members will meet residents at Village Hall in the fifth floor caucus room-across from the main council chambers.
We will meet with as many residents as we can in two hours to answer their questions, have a conversation and get to know one another better. You can make an appointment by contacting Beth Spinato at bspinato@ridgewoodnj.net or just stop in. Those making appointments are taken care of first.
Next Council Chat is Saturday March 4 at 9 am. I’ll be there. Hope you will too.
