The Arrow Project
The Arrow Project aims to preserve in digital format the joint collection of Arrow Yearbooks in the possession of RHS and the Ridgewood Public Library. Then build a new website to host the collection for future generations to search and discover.
The Arrow Project Steering Committee Currently has as its Co-Chairpersons Dr. Anne Robinson, RHS 1977, and myself. Jeff Yearing, RHS 1966, and RHS Principal Jeff Nyhuis have also agreed to assist and advise. We gladly solicit comments and suggestions from all interested parties.
The project entails three parts:
1. Finish the digitization of all the Ridgewood High School Arrow Yearbooks in existence. The Ridgewood Public Library has the editions (1950-2020) completed. We are currently looking for a book scanning service to complete work on the RHS collection. The caveat being that all work on the oldest one-of-a-kind yearbooks has to be done in the RHS principal's office.
2. Designing the web site. We needs to select a name for the proposed website. For instance: https://arrowyearbookproject.org
Our initial recommendation is for having a third parry create a web site with the collaboration of the Library & RHS. Detailed documentation would be turned over to the for maintaining the site.
3. Hosting the site. The web host will likely dictate the design tools because they all have their own tools. I suggest using Word Press as the software and then employing one of their many hosting companies. Once we know the number of gigabytes of information contained in all the Arrow Yearbooks will know the annual web hosting costs.

X Marks The Spot
A rainy morning but the beat goes on and in this case...the beat sounded like the beginning of the Doors classic Riders on the Storm with the added gun shot and scream off in the distance of course.
Shot on 42nd Street just east of 7th Ave looking west.
Time 10:30am.

Tales From The Wood…
100th Anniversary of St. Elizabeth’s Church
Completed in 1923, St. Elizabeth’s was originally a small chapel built in the English Arts and Crafts style, popular at that time. It was expanded in 1957 to its current size, adding a balcony, narthex, and bell tower as well. The leadership of the church was determined to make the addition as seamless as possible, and except for the line in the floorboards it is almost impossible to tell where the original church ends and the 1957 construction begins. The additional stones needed for the 1957 addition were acid washed to match the weathering of original building, and the original scissor beams were faithfully copied and stained to match. The simple and dignified design compliments our “broad church” worship practice, and the interior with its warm oak pews, carved pulpit, and dramatic scissor beams reflect the craftsmanship of earlier times. Needlepoint cushions and kneelers made by parishioners decorate the sanctuary.

Rock Hound
This was in the fall, at the mouth of the Two Hearted River in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The heart shaped rock is a piece of Jacobsville Sandstone. This is the same type of rock that forms most of the Pictured Rocks cliffs in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. You can find it in many different shapes and colors.
