Where's The Zabriskie-Schedler Blueprint?
The current Village Council, much to their credit, is maintaining a focus on what to do with the Zabriskie-Schedler Property. It’s been an item of discussion for past councils since the Village bought it in 2009.
In particular, the house needs a use. Too much attention has been paid to the proposed athletic fields, the berm next to Route 17, and the parking lot.
I’’ve spent time reading all the reports collected on the Village of Ridgewood web site concerning the Zabriskie-Shedler Development Property. Though much to my surprise there isn’t a blueprint of the house online with all the documents & studies.
It will be much easier to debate the future uses of the house if we all know what it looks like. The latest, most accurate document needs to be made accessible to everyone in order for the Village Council to finalize plans.
As for tenants for the building maybe we could use our heads and combine more than one idea: A Rising Above Bakery pickup location along side one or more ideas, or as a stand-alone business.

Afternoon Passing The Flower Shop
A photo of a flower shop outside the bodega on 6th Avenue at Houston street - sun over my left shoulder - bamboo reed mats on my right as I walk south...read mat on my right and I turn and the light was just right...i wasn't looking for a picture but a beer and as I stepped back and as a neighborhood kid walked up and asked the caretaker...the wind picked up...and I took like 5 versions of this as the wind blew the shades in and out.

Thank You Rising Above Bakery for giving us such a sweet tour.
The idea for Rising Above Bakery arose when Shiri Reuveni-Ullrich, a speech therapist and an avid baker, noticed the dramatic effect that baking cookies had on her nonverbal, autistic young adult students. The kitchen filled with chatter, singing, laughter, and verbalizing as students became more comfortable with the work. At that moment, she knew that a bakery must be created to help individuals with disabilities find their voice and live meaningful, independent lives.
