Selective Memories
Each year’s RHS Arrow Yearbook is a collection of the best memories, collected by the staff and transformed into a gift for their older selves and future generations to wonder about.
Remembering gives me comfort; others find it exhausting.
Memories shared with friends and family are still important to me. When I combine these moments of sharing thoughts & experiences with regular Doctor visits it helps give me the impression that I do have some say in control of my life. Maybe not a lot, but more than if I ceased creating moments of meaning. Among my most favorite, include the work of the Ridgewood High School Athletic Hall Of Fame.
Here was a group flying under the radar in the eyes of RHS alumni and anyone who hadn’t visited the gymnasium at RHS to see all of Richard Bennett’s hand-made frames enclosing the portraits of all the Hall Of Fame honorees. It’s truly an awesome sight to watch first-time visitors gaze with rapt attention at the walls which honor all these former athletes, coaches, and supporters.
The next project involving golden memories is the Arrow Project. This will attempt to digitize all the RHS Arrow Yearbooks and place them online. Stay tuned.

The Look Sea
On a stormy morning...I find myself staring out the window as the ocean roars in the distance and then I notice the outside nautical bulhead sconce which is mounted to the side of house staring back at me like an old lighthouse keeper from a children’s book and as the rain continues it's flow down the sliding door...I shoot this from the inside looking out.
Shot in Ditch Plains looking west.

April Fools'! Another 10 inches of heavy, wet stuff. There're some fish laying under those overhanging branches. Maybe a 45 inch musky. They're waiting for spring too.

Lunch Al Fresco
Dal: The first lunch of the season.
I’ll be de-emphasizing carbs (store bought breads & pastas) over the next few months, so let’s see where this leads us. Today it is my approach to Indian Lentils called Dal.
For one serving:
1/2 cup lentils (red split today)
3 cups water
A dash of salt or a bouillon cube
Tsp coriander seed
Tsp cumin seed
6 cardamom seeds
A knob of sliced ginger
Tsp (or to taste) curry
One carrot sliced thinly so it is done with the lentils. If you wish, half a tsp of Garam masala stirred in at the last minute brings an interesting bite to the spices. All in the pot. No fats, no fuss. 30 minutes over medium heat while stirring as needed. Often served over rice, we had some leftover yellow Spanish rice which worked nicely, but was too much for a single lunch.

You’re Saying It Wrong
Ross & Kathy’s podcast: You're Saying It Wrong is a podcast that looks at what we get wrong—and what we sometimes get right—when it comes to this English language.
This week's podcast: In the hells of academia, in which we try ("try" being the key word) to make sense of the dense overbloated verbiage that is academese. Oy! https://www.npr.org/podcasts/642595029/you-re-saying-it-wron\
