Observer
Zabriskie-Shedler Progress
The Ridgewood Village Council understands as well as anybody, the need to make a decision on the Zabriskie-Shedler Property. I may not like turf fields and certainly disagree with the expectation turf will be cheaper than grass, but a decision has finally be made. Glad the Village Council can now move onto to other matters.
While the decision on Zabriskie-Shedler is momentous, and the return of the Pedestrian Plaza is tremendous, the Council still has plenty to do.
The Village Council needs to develop an Online Strategy. The Village Online Strategy is the touchstone for Village IT Admins, it’s the software and technology in their governance which is used to unify and streamline business operations and IT systems. A Village Online Strategy serves as a backbone for operations and customer engagement.
To paraphrase the analysis by the Harvard Kennedy School’s Democracy and Internet Governance Initiative,
The Village governance of their digital platform is fragmented, ad hoc, and politicized. This problem is common in the United States. The Federal and State governments have to date no organized governance strategy to improve consumer welfare and communal well being online.
The hope for the future is that Industry-wide voluntary standard setting will offer a path forward to ensure we have expert-led processes, measurements, and best practices to elevate safety and quality on digital platforms, while paving the way for comprehensive U.S. Federal rules and enforcement. If U.S.-based firms do not act soon, the European Union and UK will set the standards via policies like the Digital Services Act and Online Safety Bill respectively. This could lead to non-ideal regulatory conditions for American companies, and the broader U.S. innovation ecosystem.

Big Bird Takes New York (and a bath).
I am not a "nature" photographer but I just couldn't resist when this little guy came and and took his morning bath in the same puddle as me.
This is a pure reflection shot on Lexington Avenue just north of 86th street looking south.

Sometimes the most powerful messages can come from mentoring high school leaders to our younger populations!
Our RHS Leadership Program teaches the essential elements to becoming a leader and then asks them to teach it you our middle schoolers !
Incredible messages of how to build Trust and develop teams of people who sacrifice themselves for the betterment of the team !
Great program!
Maybe your school could infuse this program into action !
We need to utilize this resource!

After a week of temps in the 70's and 80's, we had our last winter storm last night (you say). The snow is melting quickly (huh?). We're going to miss you, winter (not!).
The photo is at the mouth of the Pine River. It enters the Wisconsin River just on the other side of that RR bridge in the background.
