Ridgewood’s Museum In The Cloud
On Thursday, May 18, 2023, The Ridgewood Historical Society will celebrate the 150th year of the School House Museum. It is the ‘only’ museum in Ridgewood, NJ.
A well regarded right of passage for children in Ridgewood is their initial discovery of the Ridgewood School Museum and its collections of the earliest Lenape, Early Dutch Settler, and 19th Century artifacts. Every student in the Ridgewood Public School System tours the School House Museum, either via school field trips, a civic group, or family outing.
I like the idea of the Schoolhouse Museum doing periodic exhibits and being open for group tours and to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm to 3pm.
My only critique of the School House Museum is their lack of a strong online presence. For example, past exhibits would be most welcome if they were digitally preserved and hosted on their web site.

I looked out my cheeseshop window and saw the sun making its way down towards the Hudson River and so I ran out and shot this.

Rock Hound
Took a trip up to Little Girls Point the other day for some rock hounding and came back with a nice bunch of rocks. Now that it's rock season again, I think it's time for me to try and offer some of my pendants for sale. I wish I could just give them all away, but shipping is expensive, and I'd like to try and put at least a little gas money back in my wallet.
I've started an Etsy page to try and sell some of my pendants, and clocks too. Hopefully some folks will find the same fascination that I have with these rocks, and also the old growth wood that the clocks are made out of.
So please check out my new Etsy page, and if you're so inclined, invest in a pendant, or a unique clock. Also, let me know if you have any suggestions for improving the page.
Thank you, friends!
