Happy Mother’s Day!
I’ll keep it short today.
Mother’s Day is a tradition first celebrated in these United States in 1907, according to Wikipedia.
It’s been commercialized by the Hallmark and the Restaurant Industry, but who cares.
Let’s just remember to give the Moms in our lives a big Thank You.

Star Search
A man sits up straight and while looking into the camera wonders to himself if he really has it in him to play the big room and then takes the shot.
This is a pure reflection shot on the black granite that surrounds the fountain with Avery Fisher Hall in the distance.

May Forest
When I'm at home in the woods
and it's May
and the peeper chorus is going strong,
and the last song sparrow sings at dusk,
the roar of a hot rod on some road
in the valley below
makes me think of
American Graffiti-
The movie flickers in my mind,
teens cruising the strip,
neon lights blinking
purple and red and blue
and a guy
catches the eye
of the driver in an oncoming car,
the gleam photographers and painters
strive for to show
life in their subject;
and,
well, that light flashes
to me,
and I remember it's almost
time for the fireflies,
pulsing the fragrant June night
soon,
"but not yet,"
says the Tom turkey
gobbling like a nutjob
from the dark, May
forest.

The John G Munson upbound at Rotary Park in Sault Ste Marie. She'll lock through this evening and then head to Duluth to tie up and load cargo.
I really like the paint schemes on the Great Lakes Fleet of ships. Kind of reminds me of the paint on some of those 1970 era Cutlass 442's. All the lines point in the right direction.

You’re Saying It Wrong
Ross & Kathy’s podcast: You're Saying It Wrong is a podcast that looks at what we get wrong—and what we sometimes get right—when it comes to this English language.
Quick! Do you stand ON line or IN line? (If you're from the NY area, you know the answer to this question. The rest of you are wrong. Sorry.) And what's with something happening ON accident, while we're at it? Yup, this week's podcast, prompted by a listener question, tackles the fun world of prepositions! We're ON fire! (Not in!)
