Pennies From Heaven
I like to joke with other dog owners as to whether or not their pets have found them any money. Our old dog was good for the occassional spare change but our new puppy (2021) beats all comers.
True story. It was a blustery day before Christmas. I always remmeber this as about the time we had to take my Dad off life support. He had chosen me for this special obligation and I fulfilled my duty when I saw him struggling on the iron lung. He had no chance of breathing on his own, let alone being able to think on his own.
So on this particular windy day I had my head down to watch where our dog was walking. All of a sudden a wad of twenty dollar bills came our way. I started picking them up and even had two people helping me who believed the money was mine. One guy handed me a twenty and I gave it back to him with a thank you & happy holidays. The second guy got quite excited and picked up a good number of bills that were dancing around the sidewalk in the wind. He also brought them back to me and I told him to keep them and to have a nice holiday. The smile on his face told me that he hadn’t expected this and would always remember it.
When I got home I told my wife and counted out $290. I then gave her $100 which she at first refused but then accepted with a big smile. In my house we sometimes say to ourselves, when we encounter strange noises or unexplainable incidents, that it “must have been a spirit.” We tend to give deceased relatives the credit and this day we both agreed it was my father wishing us the best of the season. There is probably a logical reason that explains this but we’ll never know, so we went with our faith in spirits to comprehend this Unexplainable Flying Object (UFO). Thanks, Dad.

Mass Transit In Twilight
A follow-up to my earlier shot.
This was the last photo I took realizing me in a puddle on 72nd street during twilight might not be a safe spot.
2 buses...a taxi...subway entrance and a bus driver...I mean...a once in a lifetime
Shot on 72nd street at Broadway looking north.
Time 5pm.
