"Anything Goes"
According to our friends at Wikipedia:
Cole Albert Porter (June 9, 1891 – October 15, 1964) was an American composer and songwriter. Many of his songs became standards noted for their witty, urbane lyrics, and many of his scores found success on Broadway and in film.
You’re The Top from the Cole Porter play Anything Goes is a veritable history lesson in song. Besides a fine melody which has lent itself to countless parodies through the years, the original gives a snapshort of life in America in the 1920s & 1930s.
I have always liked the subject of History, even when we called it Social Studies. It was when I started taking history courses in College that I began to wonder why the name for courses which concentrated on history was changed. Learning to think analytically like this is the reason we go to Liberal Arts institutions so questions like these are not too farfetched. Funny thing is my college professors couldn’t tell me the reason for the name change either. I suppose, anything goes.
In olden days, a glimpse of stocking
Was looked on as something shocking
But now, God knows
Anything goes
Good authors, too, who once knew better words
Now only use four-letter words
Writing prose
Anything goes

Sunset On Ansonia
After getting a hotdog at Gray's Papaya...I noticed the sun coming out after a "gray" day and as I crossed the street to the 72nd street subway entrance and with the newly acquired hotdog in one hand and the mandatory relish dripping on that one hand...I shot this with the other hand which possessed the mandatory mustard on it.
Shot on Broadway with my phone's wide angle lens at 72nd street looking north with subway entrance and the Ansonia in the distance.

Did You Know…
Did you know that Dr. Fitts will make a presentation to the BOE prior to the January 23rd meeting recommending that the trustees make a decision regarding Later School Start Time (LSST) for RHS students? Many of you have not only been following this issue for over a decade but have actively participated in advocating for the change. Jeff Nyhuis has the support he needs from the HSA, REA president, athletic director, school physician, faculty, parents, and students to successfully implement his proposed schedule which would have the school day begin at 8:30 and end at 3:05 by shaving less than a minute from each class period. He is eagerly awaiting the green light. Dr. Fitts noted that we have had plenty of public input and that it is his intention to present a viable plan to the trustees for approval.
Leonard Fitts, Ed.D.
Interim Superintendent of Schools

Please take a moment to thank Dr. Fitts for his leadership and for putting the needs of the students first. I am grateful that we are finally addressing the importance of moving forward with a decision that will have such a tremendous impact on the health, well-being, safety, and achievement of our students as well as the culture of the entire school.
Thank you and be sure to tune in on the 23rd! BOE Webcast
