Dave Duffield '58 Does It Again!
Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters is exactly the plan in Hohokus after Dave Duffield donated $10 Million to renovate the school system’s gymnasium.
The existing gymnasium renovation will include a raised roof to allow more natural daylight into the space, while also providing enhanced recreation equipment such as interactive equipment."
The project seeks to "reinvent the athletic and wellness spaces in the district with an addition designed to improve both mental and physical health by focusing on the development of children. Besides a new gym and lockers, Duffield Hall will include a health classroom and space for dance, yoga, and mindfulness lessons.
I wish they could raise the roof on every gym in the Ridgewood Public Schools (RPS), as JD Salinger’s New Yorker article suggests to do. Adding more natural daylight would require some creative thinking but might be a cause that the Village taxpayers would rally around or, better, some upstanding alum wishing to make a system wide change to the RPS.

The Blur And Lady Hamster
Some mornings I wake up and I just can't seem to shake the blur and as I sit contemplating my next move...a guy crosses my path as a lady in a frock quietly scurries past like a rodent.
This is a pure reflection shot on 5th ave just north of 26th street looking south with Flatiron building.
Time 930am.

Rock Hound
The magnificent Arthur M. Anderson upbound on the St. Mary's River at Rotary Island Park in Sault St Marie, MI. She's heading for the lock, and then a load of taconite at Two Harbors, MN. This is the ship that turned around in Whitefish Bay and headed back into the storm looking for survivors after the Edmund Fitzgerald disappeared.
