Advantages Of An RHS Degree
Some people have received so many advantages in life that it is easy for them to look good on paper. Graduating from RHS is one such advantage.
RHS educates its graduates so they can move towards any sort of career. The diploma gets their feet in the door, whether this is a college, trade school, or a job interview.
The degree works in retirement, too. By this time all the easy opportunities to meet people, from school & work, are gone. A touch of creativity is truly called for to make connections happen after 50.
I believe becoming comfortable with the term “semi-retired” is a good approach. It’s easy to offer in conversation to help spark relations with people old and new. It’s a flexible phrase which relays to those who hear it that a career or two has occurred, and the individual bestowing this title upon themselves is pulling the throttle back to about ~85% from here on.
Whenever you decide to close your main career, looking up high school friends can fill the gaps created in your former schedule. We do this by attending reunions, Homecoming Weekends, and by social media & email.
Hope you see the advantages of maintaining long-term relationships with high school classmates, maybe during this coming weekend’s festivities.
Simply knowing old friends are reachable is solace enough for me on those cold winter nights. The Irish Poet W.B. Yeats said it well in his poem
When You Are Old
When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;
And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.
In our case the book might be your RHS Arrow Yearbook. Soon we’ll have the collection online for everyone’s perusal.

The Man From Moussaka
My morning ends after lunch at Stamatis and as I wait for the N train to pull out of the station...I took this as the word "moussaka" ran through a fellow passengers head.
