RHS GroupSpot
For the second time this week I am recognizing feats of RHS engineering know-how. First it was the text-only RHS app for class scheduling & daily announcements. Next is the private app GroupSpot, with ambitious ideas about Trust & Group Sharing.
When I mention “ambitious ideas” it is with the highest praise. The GroupSpot app offers a roadmap to a safer online experience. It gets people thinking about dry subjects near and dear to my heart: cybersecurity & the authentication of user’s identities.
There will be hiccups along the way as the app gains in popularity. Though I am glad Mark’s Kohort Technology firm is taking this deep dive look at how we communicate.
GroupSpot will continue to offer a free communications tier to members; Additionally, starting in 2024, GroupSpot will offer a paid tier for groups looking for more advanced features (Payments, Mobile Registration, Fundraising, Role Based Permissions, Analytics, etc.).
GroupSpot was co-founded by Mark Kossick ‘93. Mark was a recipient of the RHS Excellence In Athletics Award, now known as the Dave Vanderbush Award for Excellence in Athletics. It is the highest honor a student athlete can receive from RHS. Beginning in 1974 an award was also given to the top female athlete from RHS. RHS Athletic Hall Of Fame member Nancy Hogan was the first recipient.

A Morning With Imagination
Shot alone in the rain at first light as the opening chord of A Hard Days Night resonates through my imagination and cold wet fingers.
By the way...Is it only me or does that read "e-ma-gene".

Mighty Are We As One
M + A is a destination devoted to art, artists, artisans and design. We are inspired by art as it relates to design: the soul, the spark that ignites beautiful ideas. We are equally as motivated by craft traditions passed down from generations.

Walking to a breakfast joint in Milwaukee I turned down an alley and found this limestone foundation wall with a glass block window and a drain pipe.

You’re Saying It Wrong
Ross & Kathy’s podcast: You're Saying It Wrong is a podcast that looks at what we get wrong—and what we sometimes get right—when it comes to this English language.

100th Year Anniversary
We're 100 days away from the 100th anniversary of having a free public library in the Village of Ridgewood (December 28, 1923). We hope you'll join us on Saturday December 9, with a Happy Birthday themed morning stories at 10:30am; cake and activities from 11:30am-12:30pm; and a lecture on the history of the library at 2pm. Any questions contact Sarah Kiefer at 201-670-5600 x2135 or skiefer@ridgewoodlibrary.or
Sometimes it's just nice to sit by the fireplace with a good book and a comfy chair.
Though we no longer have a fireplace, we do have plenty of comfy chairs and books. Or, if you have an e-reader, you can sit by your home fireplace and still take advantage of a good book from the Ridgewood library.
