Appointment Of Village Historian
On tonight’s Ridgewood Village Council agenda there will be discussion among council members about the appointment of a Village Historian.
This is a brilliant idea with the potential for offering a wide-range of benefits to the Village. My suggestion is to begin with a focus on the 20th Century. There is a multitude of photographs at the Ridgewood Public Library containing people, places & events.
I think the introduction of historical plaques to the Central Business District would draw foot traffic out of curiosity, as well as providing a memorable learning experience.
Congratualtions to the Ridgewood Village Council for providing us with a discussion, online & in-person, of this far-reaching proposition!

There are paths and straight lines and between those is me eating an apple cider donut looking at puddles.

Our Classmates
To update on our 50th Reunion plans for class of '74, we have reserved the Ridgewood Woman's Club for the evening of Saturday, September 21, 2024. We set up a bank account at Valley National Bank in Ridgewood; they can work with Stripe payments. We will probably get the Market Basket to cater. We plan to use RSVPify for invitations and maybe reactivate our old website. We will start meeting and inviting in earnest in early January. —Pamela Perron lodging discounts and other weekend anomalies. Stay tuned, but PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!

Yesterday a bunch of us got together and worked to clear out another couple hundred yards of trees and brush for Merrill’s River Bend Trail. This new section of the trail will run along the Big Eddy of the Wisconsin River, making this beautiful stretch of river more accessible to hikers, bikers, and fisherman. This is a picture of the Big Eddy that I took today.
Before the Merrill area was settled by Europeans, this spot was a Native American settlement. After Merrill’s development, a fish hatchery was built here, and this new section of trail runs along the ruins of the old hatchery.
