Boomers Turning 65
More Americans are turning 65 this year than any prior time in history. I’m pleased to join them.
As a cohort, we have seen countless changes, and some that were implemented too quickly. For instance, Cable TV has never been subject to the same FCC public access regulations as the over-the-air TV broadcasters. Broadcasters once had an obligation to serve the public's interests, not just their own commercial interests. The outrageous price of Cable TV is a testament to how the FCC fails to protect the public from repeated price gauging by Cable monopolists.
A few months after we cut the cord with our Cable provider, I started to miss the local TV channels. Local news is a rarity these days and its disappearance is troubling. So to regain some local awareness, I installed a TV antenna. While you might not want to venture back onto your roof to troubleshoot or install a mast antenna, often as not the reception will be perfectly adequate with an inexpensive flat antenna on a window sill. The flat antenna is an inexpensive option and works without any Internet!

Still Life With Chucky
As my brother (@ccortellesi) and father work on the stuffed chicken legs for dinner...I calmly shoot this in (and through) the kitchen window while having my cocktail back in hand before the ice had a chance to even think about melting - you're looking at 3 experts in their element.
This is a partial reflection looking east with bricks.

You’re Saying It Wrong
Ross & Kathy’s podcast: You're Saying It Wrong is a podcast that looks at what we get wrong—and what we sometimes get right—when it comes to this English language.
You're talking about the car your friend owns -- you say it's your friend's car, right? Why not the car of your friend? And why do you say an artist paints "still lifes" instead of "still lives"? And why do you say "un-freakin-believable" instead of "un-be-freakin-lievable"? On this YSIW, we talk about those rules of the English language we automatically follow without even being aware of it.
