The Ridgewood High School Athletic Hall Of Fame (RHS-HOF) selection committee announced the 2024 inductees this week:
October 26, 2024 At The Brick House, Wyckoff, NJ
Social hour will again be 6:00-7:00 PM with a sit-down dinner and induction ceremonies scheduled for 7:00 - 10:00 PM
As they have been doing since 2004, they deliberated long and hard before they made their announcement. The inductees are listed below.
The RHS-HOF’s biennial deliberations is good sign for all RHS Alumni. They show how-to create a comradery & bon homie which few if any RHS Alumni organizations, except the RHS Alumni Association, have been able to imitate to date.
I would call the RHS-HOF an organization which aims to be “useful” rather than to be “youthful.” They bestow only honors. There is never an attempt to rank or compare in public all the fine resumes of athletes, coaches, & special supporters. What’s more, they conduct their due diligence in secret and then consistently select individuals & entire teams with records that are beyond question. We may not all agree on this year’s inductees, we all have our favorites, but when the biennial banquet rolls around we put aside our differences. We choose to conduct ourselves in the truest sense of the Tradition of Excellence, our schools motto.
Applications for the 2026 RHS-HOF cohort are being accepted.

A Very Unromantic Look At A Very Wet Snow Storm
Although my goal this morning was to find a majestic photo of Times Square in a snow storm...I quickly learned the reality of the current weather conditions and found myself not so much thriving in the majesty of my surroundings but more simply trying to survive in its mundanity.
Shot on Broadway at 47th street looking east.
Time 9am.

A Cup Of Tea On The Commode
An intimate, funny and heartwarming memoir of how eldercare can be done" At 55, I gave up my carefree bachelor life to become a first-time parent to a ninety-year-old, sharp-tongued, guilt-tripping, stubborn as all get out, and yet funny lady who could barely remember my name. My mother. It’s rare for a son to take on 24/7 care giving, but I jumped in with gusto to fill Mom’s last years with love, laughter, and joy. Not always successful, but I came pretty damn close. “A Cup of Tea on the Commode” chronicles my multi-tasking adventures. My hope is to not only entertain as there are a lot of fun stories in it, but to inspire others, especially men, to find the joy in care giving. I did, and I’m a better man for it.
