Youth Sports
Why are there so many travel youth sports teams in the Village? Are parents so gullible that they actually believe their kids are going to receive athletic scholarships from academic institutions?
These same parents ought to save themselves time & money (Travel teams can cost upwards of $10,000 annually.) All they need to do is ask a veteran coach at RHS about specializing in one sport. They’ll likely tell you the same thing they have told me and I discovered for myself during my playing days:
No matter how early in life a child starts specializing in sports, the odds of being granted any sort of scholarship from an institution of higher education are slim. Being athletic might help chances of gaining admission but don’t count on it paying much if any of the costs.
Personally, I’d like to see Olympic Training Center headquartered in the Village. Take all the misguided, self-serving advice about sports specialization in elementary schools and direct it towards more reasonable & responsible goals.
Athletics are about more than checking a box on a college application. Participation in athletics, whether or not you are good or only average, teaches perseverance, team work, and how-to lose gracefully. The more sports one participates in, the clearer these lessons become and the longer they are remembered.

The Arch And The Covenant
As I ride my bike down 5th Avenue...I see the arch approaching through the steam and snow and I remembered the agreement I made with the arch that we would greet eachother on every snow day and so I say hello mister arch it's good to see you and hello guy walking in front and hello man in the red coat in the distance and of course...hello to you my friends.
Shot on 5th Avenue just north of Waverly place looking south.

Hope Coach
Ready to ignite a spark of inspiration within your school community? My keynote assemblies are designed to do just that. 🌟 Recently, I had the honor of engaging with the amazing leaders at Wharton Public Schools in Wharton, New Jersey. Here, I saw firsthand how a small town’s big-hearted leaders have cultivated a culture where staff and students are empowered to embrace challenges and ‘go for it.’
It was a privilege to offer inspiration, hope, and a reminder of the profound importance and value of our educators’ roles. Every day presents a new opportunity to change lives—just as it has changed mine, my children’s, and perhaps yours, through the influential words of a teacher.
Let’s help uplift spirits, encourage growth, and reinforce the critical impact of education. Together, we WILL make a difference

Another nice sunset at the Big Eddy of the Wisconsin River in Merrill. The water level is extremely low, and there’s hardly any snow to fill up the river with the spring melt. We really need some moisture.

Zabriskie-Schedler Park Timeline
On Friday the Village of Ridgewood pro-actively released the Zabriskie-Schedler SHPO application to the community. Within the application is a timeline detailing the history of the park. Hoping this helps answer some community questions.
