Keith Kazmark
The Village of Ridgewood is fortunate to have Keith Kazmark as its new Village Manager.
The Woodland Park native is a Passaic Valley Regional High School graduate. He has an undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and a master's from the New York Institute of Technology.
The Village also has a new Director of Communications and Special Projects, Carol Bialkowski. She is the newest addition to the Village Manager’s Office.
Carol, a Ridgewood resident, has been involved in the community and in our schools for years and most recently served as the Director of Communications for West Side Presbyterian Church here in Ridgewood. Carol will assist us in our mission to keep our residents informed of critical information.
These two hires are most welcome. Together their expertise and ability to communicate are why you might be seeing more Village related activity on social media. More importantly, they help strengthen the ties that bind a Village together.
The transparency of their work produces greater trust among residents and encourages former residents & alumni to maintain an interest in Ridgewood.
Look forward to seeing & hearing more in the future!

The Masters Of the Universe
I went up today to get a toy pig I ordered from FAO Schwartz (more on that story later)....but as I walked I front of Saint Patrick's cathedral...I saw Atlas in the window across the street and shot this into the front glass.
Shot on 5th Avenue looking east with a westerly reflection.

Rock Hound
Yesterday it was in the 60’s, with light south and west winds, and we were catching walleyes below the dam. Today it was a high in the teens with a bitterly cold northwest wind.
My poor little jet boat is probably wishing it was back in storage. The weather this winter is unusual.
Jeff Meyers
Prayer
Adrenaline and cortisol
Flow freely like poison;
No one can save me but I…
But, of course, I consist of many,
An army of armed doubters
Shaking their spears and knives and battle axes
Arrayed against
A small band of affectionate friends
Carrying tenderness,
Allowing tears, offering kind laughter,
Smiling at accrued absurdities
Multiple misunderstandings
Repressed pain become a threatening wraith--
Let’s turn him into a hamster
Comes a suggestion
On his wheel running
All night
All day
Maybe forever,
Or perhaps (merciless squeaking interrupted)
He will be cupped in a child’s hand,
His whiskers trembling
And he’s lain
In a nest of cedar
Shavings
His gentle breathing
Lovingly watched over
Until all of us fall
Gently
Asleep.

You’re Saying It Wrong
Ross & Kathy’s podcast: You're Saying It Wrong is a podcast that looks at what we get wrong—and what we sometimes get right—when it comes to this English language.

High School Basketball
As high school basketball season is winding down and tournaments have begun, let's celebrate the long tradition of basketball at Ridgewood High School. The girls' team shown is from the season of 1912-1913, with girls whose names mirrored the time -- Genevieve, Hazel, Helen, Mabel, Olive, Charlotte, and Mary.
The second photo shows the 1923 boys' team, with Wilbur, Walter, Graham, Frank, Horace, and Julian, among others.
And, while we’re at it, a round of applause please for the 2023-24 Ridgewood boys’ team, which last week won its second sectional title in 3 years!
