Paul Cortellesi, RHS ‘79
The fire company at Quakertown Fire Company #1 had a good deal to be grateful for this past New Year’s Eve: Paul & Deb Cortellesi were on duty. They annually volunteer for this overnight shift.
But it wasn’t just having New Year’s Eve off that gave the Quakertown Fire Company #1 a glad feeling, they also were well aware that Paul Cortellesi was finishing his 44th year of EMT service. He started in Ridgewood NJ, then moved to Quakertown in 1998.
The list of achievements of this modern day Renaissance couple is long. Paul & Deb met while on EMT duty and have made it a part of their family’s tradition. Their son Gavin is a Fireman and all three boys have worked hard enough to earn their Chef Jackets, through their culinary participation in the many community meals sponsored by Quakertown Fire Company #1.
If we ever again gather as RHS alumni to honor the Distinguished Alumni among us, I expect Paul Cortellesi will be on the list.

Let Me Take This
A man steps outside the Lids store as his kids and wife choose their favorite Milwaukee Brewers hat trying to explain to his mistress on the phone that he won't be able to be there for Christmas.
Shot on 7th avenue just north of 47th street looking south through an open glass door on a rainy day.

Tales From The Wood…
Really appreciate that so many businesses have been decorating the exterior of their store fronts. It really adds character and a person touch to Ridgewood Avenue (next to The Daily Treat).

A Cup Of Tea On The Commode
Arrived in bookstores everywhere on Mother’s Day, May 14, 2023.
A son's multi-tasking adventures of caring for Mom. And he survived to tell the tale. The parent/child role reversal might not have been unique to me, but how I dealt with it was. A Cup of Tea on the Commode chronicles my adventures filling my mother’s last years with love, laughter, and joy. Though not always successful, I came pretty damn close. For more information visit

PYCA has had another great year! We had more classes, events, camps, and students than ever before. As the year draws to a close
I want to thank everyone that has made this possible - and encourage you to help out with a year-end contribution. We make our programs available at reasonable cost to the sponsors of our programs and usually at no cost to our students. Our programs have excellent equipment and are staffed by wonderful artist-coaches. We can do this only through the generosity of friends who understand how important quality youth development programs are, and who choose to help underwrite what we do through their generosity. We hope you, too, can be a PYCA partner this year.
Here is the link! DONATE TO PYCA!
