National Library Week
What Books Did You Love as a Kid? What books did you read to your parents? What books did your children read to you?
All good questions to reflect upon during National Library Week.
During my time at Willard, the weekly trips to the school library were memorable. Whether it was Mrs. Blumquist reading Carl Sandberg or Mrs Schnappauf taking the time to see what we were looking at, the Library was a place for expanding our horizons.
We discussed the first Earth Day in 1970 in the Library. It wasn’t part of any curriculum, only a large event which demanded to be discussed. The librarians led the discussion and sollicited our feedback. It was a moment of discovery for us all.
Support your local library. Ask them to expand their online archives so a visit to the stacks isn’t required, only highly suggested.

April 6. 2024 - Grand Central
Nine 15
This is the 2nd day in a row I find myself in my beloved Grand Central.
Over the years...I've tried many times to take a photo of "the clock" - today I think I finally have one worth sharing...what do you think?
Shot with my arms stretched way up on the north side of the clock looking south.
Time...you guessed it...9:15am.

A Cup Of Tea On The Commode
A son's multi-tasking adventures of caring for Mom. And he survived to tell the tale. The parent/child role reversal might not have been unique to me, but how I dealt with it was. A Cup of Tea on the Commode chronicles my adventures filling my mother’s last years with love, laughter, and joy. Though not always successful, I came pretty damn close.

Rock Hound
That new kitchen pub table that I made has been such a hit in our house that we were having trouble keeping the cats off of it and they were scratching the finish, so I decided to make a matching window bench for them. Hopefully they’ll eventually learn to love the bench and stay off of the table.

National Library Week
It's National Library Week, and by sheer coincidence, this photo of the staff of the old George L. Pease Memorial Library in Ridgewood was taken on April 8. Of 1962. This picture was put into the cornerstone of the new Ridgewood Public Library then being built on N. Maple Ave.
