Ridgewood Thought Exchange
Thank you for a job well done! The Ridgewood Board of Education (BOE) is soliticing feedback while the Army Corps of Engineers proposes a design to alleviate the long standing problem of flooding in Ridgewood, especially along the athletic fields built in the flood plain.
My three thoughts:
I wonder what it would cost to pump the water into Graydon Pool before it reaches Vets & RHS.
Or how big the water tanks would have to be in the Graydon Parking lot to hold a drenching rain?
My favorite is the use of rain gardens and permeable barriers along the banks of the Hohokus Brook, which theoretically will soak up the excess water better than the existing concrete.
The Ridgewood Public School District is using ThoughtExchange, a two-way communications tool, to solicit your input on topics such as local flooding of athletic fields. The input is completely anonymous, and we hope that you will help us to be a part of the solution. You can enter your own thoughts and input, and then review the input of others and assign a star rating to each of those as you deem appropriate.
When evaluating the challenges surrounding the flooding and limited availability of RPS athletic fields, what perspectives should the district consider?
Rules and Guidelines:
1) Names of specific individuals should not be used, nor should specific language or characteristics that will enable others to identify individuals. These comments may be removed from the survey results.
2) Reply only to the question asked. Comments not related to the use of athletic fields, their maintenance, or other related field topics may be removed.
3) Any discriminatory comments will be removed.

RHS Class of 1974 save the date! We are organizing our 50th Reunion (OMG!) for the weekend of September 20 to 22, 2024. Here is what the Reunion Committee has planned so far:
• Friday, Sept. 20th 6:00 -10:00 p.m….Informal meet-up at MacMurphy’s Irish Pub for those traveling from afar and anybody else who just wants to hang out
• Saturday, Sept. 21st 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m….Tour of Ridgewood High School and lunch in the cafeteria.
• Saturday, Sept. 21st 6:30 – 10:00 p.m….Dinner/dance at the Woman's Club of Ridgewood.
• Sunday, Sept. 22nd 9:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m….Casual send-off breakfast at the Schoolhouse Museum (opposite the cemetery).
If you might conceivably want to attend, please email us at RHS1974Reunion50@gmail.com so we can send you an invitation through RSVPify. No need to commit at this time.
Can you volunteer? We’d love to take advantage of skills that our classmates may have. For example, we still need a professional photographer, a graphic artist, clean-up crew, and people finders. Email us what/how you’d like to contribute at RHS1974Reunion50@gmail.com. This is a grassroots endeavor; our Reunion Committee is composed of 15 RHS ’74 grads. We have not hired AlumniClass or any other third-party to organize our reunion.
